Adelphi Theatre Entrance Billboard

After seeing this show last week for one of Vasco Emauz’s final performances, I knew I had to make the trip back to the Adelphi Theatre for the debut performance of Caden Brauch.

BEFORE THE SHOW:

Today’s decision to go and see ‘BACK TO THE FUTURE‘ was a spontaneous one, but I knew I couldn’t miss out on seeing the debut performance of Caden Brauch as Marty McFly, taking over the role from Vasco Emauz who ended his run last weekend.

I checked into my hotel over at Zedwell Picadilly and headed over to my favourite London food spot; Kulu Kulu Sushi, for a quick bite before this evenings performance.

I’ve talked about both Zedwell Hotels and Kulu Kulu Sushi before on my blog. Both are very good options for a quick trip to the theatre, with Zedwell Hotels, having locations very close to a plethora of West End theatres and Kulu Kulu Suhi perfect for a solo dining spot.

SHOW REVIEW:

BACK TO THE FUTURE‘ has had four different actors, excluding understudies in the leading role of Marty McFly on the West End since its debut in 2021.

These include the shows fist ever Marty, Olly Dobson, who launch the show back in 2020 at the Manchester Playhouse, Ben Joyce in 2022 who performed the role for two years, followed by Vasco Emauz in the summer of 2024.

After a very short six month stint from Vasco Emauz, it’s now time for Caden Brauch to take on the role of Marty, and the twenty three year old isn’t unfamiliar to the character, having previously played him on the North American Tour, over the last eight months.  However, today marks his West End debut.

At the start, you could tell Caden was slightly nervous, but as he got into it, he was exceptional. Caden had probably some of the best comedic timining and improvisation out of the previous Marty’s I had seen on the West End.

Caden was really a joy to watch, with his comedic timing and facial expressions making me cry with laughter. I also believe that apart from the shows fist Marty (Olly Dobson). Caden had the most likeness to Michael J Fox’s original Marty McFly, from the accent to the body language it’s clear he really took inspiration from the original films.

Caden Brauch – Marty McFly

Don’t get me wrong, every performer I’ve seen as Marty McFly in the West End has been absolutely incredible. Ben Joyce, who left the role in 2024, had exceptionally good acting and characterisation, and Vasco Emuaz who I had only seen a week prior, had the best vocal abilities and vocal range that I had seen at the Adelphi.

However, Caden brought good elements from both of these in his singing and acting abilities and when combined with his comedic timing and facial expressions. It made for probably the funniest and most likeable Marty McFly I had not only seen on the West End but on Broadway too, and Casey Likes was absolutely outstanding in that role in New York.

If you’re contemplating going to see this production. I’d highly recommend you go! Caden Brauch has added a new layer to this already exceptional show. Think comedy, amazing singing, incredible sets, and lighting design. It really is out of this world.

Tickets for Back to the Future are available at most performances for as little as £19. Today’s ticket cost me £40 with me being sat in the Upper Circle B31
